Running Businesses Are Like Parenting - If You Love Them
You Must Let Them Go When the children grow up, parents will
have to learn to let them leave the security of their homes in
order to pursue their dreams of studies, careers and marriage.
Companies too have to learn to part with their businesses at
the appropriate time. Some need to close down, while others
sold away or be broken up. Usually, this is a difficult
decision as the company does suffer from empty nest syndrome
too, similar to doting parents when their children depart from
their homes. credit first service union
Divestment, demerger or break-up is taking place all the
time and will have more impact than downsizing, delayering,
etc. AT T was amongst the first big boys to break up.
Luthansia has sectioned off its air-freight operations. Sandoz
in Switzerland released its chemical division. card credit mobile service
A reason for the break up is to obtain better focus. A CEO
of the group cannot make the right decision for the
subsidiaries as he is not able to know all the details
pertaining to its subsidiaries. Therefore such big
conglomerates cannot compete against their specialist
competitors. People work better when they have some say about
their work. The central controllers blame the subsidiaries for
siefdoms and empire building. The central head office
bureaucracy builds up and bogs down the business. card credit discover service
Getting a fair share price is another cause. Investment
bankers actually encouraged this too. The share price of a big
group is the average of the group s performance. If the better
subsidiary is broken up, it will have a higher share price
value. When the group is split up, it is like a share split.
Share split is a popular way for listed company to attract more
investors to its shares. For instance, a listed company with a
US $80/share when split into two of US $40/share each will
attract more buyers to its shares as the split share becomes
more affordable. credit public service union
Another reason is to reduce debt. When the subsidiary is
geared up, cash is passed to the parent company and the
subsidiary sectioned off with the debt. Fear of takeover is
another reason. For instance, ICI kept its chemical and
pharmaceutical divisions under common ownership until the
pharmaceutical division was threatened to be taken over by
Hanson. To ward off a takeover, ICI spun off Zeneca, the
bioscience company. card credit processing service
Some do it to separate two parts of the company, which are
competitive. While others do it to rid of a troubled unit
before it pulled down the whole group. For example, tobacco
companies break up for fear of litigation against it. center credit service union
However, there are exceptions to the rule. GE did not break
up to stay competitive. Instead, Jack Welch decided the best
course of action for GE in the 1980s was to rid itself of the
businesses that GE is not faring too well. Those companies that
were spun from GE did better than if they had stayed in the GE
family. For IBM, Lou Gerstner was not convinced to break up IBM
in order to turn it around. Instead Lou moved the organisation
to focus on services. Lou was proven right not to break up IBM,
which his predecessor John Akers had wanted to do. card credit service wireless
Like a woman giving birth to the child, it is difficult to
let the child go. You must enjoy and be able to manage it. You
must earn what you are worth. Do not let the ego and emotions
get in the way, stop if it is not working well. credit security service union
Evaluate your businesses, some may fare better if they are
spun off. For others, which are terminally ill, it may be
better to close them down and bury them. www.

Teaching Students To Keep Out Of Credit Card Debt - The
Parents Role Parents have the full responsibility for their
children and their education. It is up to
parents to teach their children whats right
and whats wrong, how to conduct themselves as good citizens,
how to cross the road safely and generally protect themselves
from harm. In fact, up until the time that child is an adult,
the parents have responsibilities in every
part of that childs life, right up until the time they are a
college student. credit federal service union
The influence of the parents, however, goes way beyond
college student days. Whether they like it or not, or even
admit it, everyone is influenced not only by the way their
parents have treated them, but also by the
behavioural patterns of the parents. That influence can be
good, bad or neutral, but it is there, and it affects many
aspects of daily lives. One of the main features of daily life
is finance: money, debt, borrowing, lending, spending, and
credit cards all fall within that sphere. credit monitoring service
It follows that parents can have an
influence on their childrens attitude to
credit cards and credit card
debt. As a good teacher, mentor and financial adviser, the
parent can help to create a positive financial attitude in
their children that will help them through their college
student days, and eliminate or prevent credit card
debt from their future lives. credit division service
What Can A Parent Do To Help Their Student Children Prevent
Debt Parents are not the only influence on their children. They
and their children face a barrage of marketing for
credit cards that has reached brainwashing
proportions. Easy credit pervades society like
a highly contagious virus; it is difficult enough for the
parents not to succumb to the
debt that follows easy credit, let alone their
student children. And if the parents succumb,
what chance do the children have. card credit online service
Well, all is not entirely lost. All parents
know, or should know, that trying to force feed attitudes and
habits on their maturing children is likely to backfire. Many
children are rebellious, and will often be inclined to go
against the parents wishes or advice. That
would apply as much to teaching how to manage
their finances as anything else. consumer counseling credit inc
However, if you accept that you cannot just force something
on your children, you can bring them up in an environment that
may, through their own observation, make the children think
twice about running up credit card debts as a
student, and later still in their lives. Here are just a few
ideas: card credit fleet service
1. Get the children into the saving habit from a young age,
but do it in a way that lets them see the benefits. Start a
savings account for them even as a one year old, and as they
get a bit older, just explain to them what it is and why. No
harsh lectures, just a simple explanation that you are helping
them to save money for something they will appreciate later.
But not too much into the future; saying they will not be able
to touch it until they are 25 will not help. card consolidation credit
The savings theme can be on two levels. Part of the savings
could be long term, but part also for something the child will
be able to buy within a year. That way, the child has the
anticipation of a benefit within a reasonable time; the balance
of the savings can go on to accumulate. Ensure you have a
savings account that will pay interest on all money in the
account, so that when the first and subsequent interest
payments are posted to the account, you can show the child that
they have this bonus in their account. Explain it
is the bank paying them money for leaving their savings in the
account. credit free online report
It is important for the child to feel that it is their money
that is being saved, so explain it is part of their pocket
money being put away. Also encourage them, but not force them,
to sometimes put birthday or other gift money in the account
too. Over the years, this will, hopefully, become a habit that
is a useful contra to the debt culture. They
will get used to the bank paying them, so when it comes to
considering credit cards later, they may be
more likely to question the large interest charges the bank
makes for using the credit cards. credit federal first service
2. Encourage children to earn a bit of extra pocket money by
doing little jobs around the house or in the garden. Say this
will help them save for whatever it is they want to save for.
Car washing, mowing the lawn when old enough, vacuuming;
whatever needs to be done, ask if they would like to do the
jobs for the extra money. Then, when paid, encourage them, but
do not force them, to save at least part of the earnings.
Again, this could become a habit that will stand them in good
stead later on, and they will tend to consider the working
route to extra money rather than expensive borrowing. consumer credit service

Children and Divorce - Three Tips for Parents Who Want To
Help Their Kids Cope Divorce is all too common in western
countries. Typically 50% of all marriages fail, and the
unfortunate reality is that the words children and divorce
apply to literally millions of kids around the world. card credit customer discover
When a divorce occurs, children often feel like the bottom
has fallen out of their world. The mother and father together
in a healthy marriage provide a secure environment for
children, and when this is suddenly gone they are susceptible
to all kinds of emotional troubles. They may become aggressive,
or they may withdraw. Behavioural problems are common, as is
poor performance in schoolwork. Their confidence will often be
affected when faced with the challenge of adjusting to a new
reality. credit repair report service
Thankfully there are some steps that concerned parents can
take to help their children through this painful experience.
Firstly, make sure you put extra
effort into letting your children know how much you love them,
and that the divorce is not their fault. They will most likely
need more reassurance than is normal, and the more positive
words and positive shared experiences during this time the
better. credit legal repair service
Secondly,
resist from being critical of your ex-spouse in front of
the children, as regardless of their shortcomings they will
always be the other parent of your children. Its best if you
are always cordial and work cooperatively for the good of your
offspring. cic credit monitoring service
Thirdly,
give your children time and space to express themselves. It
is a huge issue for them, and their feelings wont be resolved
immediately. One good idea is to ask them to record their
thoughts in a journal. This provides a positive and
non-destructive outlet for emotions that are running deep. ccs credit division service
If children and divorce is a reality in your situation, you
can put these tips into practice. If you do will be on the way
to helping your children cope and face the future with
confidence and hope. credit service union worker

A Brief Lesson In Child Motivation For Gymnastics Parents
Today Im going to give you a few quick and easy tips for child
motivation - I didnt make these up, they are based on
psychological theory. When we think of motivation we think of
an audience of card chase credit customer
adults chanting I can do it at a Tony Robbins
seminar, but motivation is just as important for children. As a
gymnastics parent, you probably already realize how important
motivation for children is. Teaching your children about
motivation and goals at an early age will help them to become
fulfilled and successful adults. But how Lets discuss a few
ideas right now. To start with, introduce your kids to the
concept of card chase credit service
setting goals by having a discussion about them. I dont mean
lecture your kids, but have a back-and-forth discussion about
what they would like to achieve - dont be too serious, they get
plenty of that at school. Keep it simple, fun and light, and
remember to let your kids have their say, listen to their ideas
about achieving goals and help to develop them. Next thing you
can do is set up a goal system -- using the citi credit monitoring service
goals you created during your discussion, make up a chart of
attainable but challenging goals and place it somewhere every
one can see it. Ideas for goals can be learning a new
gymnastics skill within a certain time-frame, ranking in the
top 10 gymnasts at the next meet or achieve a certain grade
level in the next school report card. Its also a good idea to
set rewards for each goal - include that on the goal sheet
too. credit plus service union
When a goal is achieved, give your child their reward and
put a big check-mark, smiley face or stamp on the goal chart
and gather every one in the household around to witness the
momentuos occassion and give encouragement. When a goal isnt
achieved, let your child know you can see theyre working hard
but they need to try harder - also make sure the goals arent
too tough! Finally, set goals for yourself and follow them
to credit farm service
completion. You cant expect your child to achieve if you
have no discipline or self-control yourself. A great way to
achieve goals together is to take on a project at home. It can
be painting the garage, planting a new garden or even a craft
project. The idea is to show your child that great things are
achieved from consistent work over a long period - too many
kids nowadays give up if something cant be achieved during 1st credit federal service

Why Are Our Children Getting Heavier -- The Five Truths
Every Parent Must Know To Get Their Childs Weight On Track.
With as many as 50% of all children being overweight in this
country, parents are beginning to realize that something must
be done. There is no shortage of information about nutrition
and exercise, but the task of helping an overweight child
without setting them up for a lifetime of dieting is a daunting
challenge. Parents who understand the five truths of getting a
childs weight on track can begin to address the issue in a
healthy and effective way. aeon credit service
Truth #1: Parents are the problem AND the solution. Heavy
kids eat too much and they dont get enough exercise. Its that
simple. Parents of overweight children must own up to the fact
that they are allowing and enabling their children to eat too
much and move too little. Once parents accept this, they will
begin to understand that they have tremendous power to solve
their childs weight problem. credit one service union
Truth #2: Kids need to be educated. You may know how much,
and what kinds of foods your child should eat. And you may
expect that your children have the common sense to know, too.
But did it ever occur to you that your children really dont
know They understand that too much is bad and that some foods
are better than others. But without education, they have no
idea why, or what effects eating too much of the wrong things
have on how they look and feel in their daily lives. Once they
are educated, children take great pride in becoming good
stewards of their own bodies through activity and
nutrition. bad cell credit phone service
Truth #3: An overweight child is a family issue. Whether
one, some or all in a family are overweight, solving a childs
weight problem must become a priority for the entire family.
Otherwise, a child can feel singled out, different and ashamed.
Getting the whole family involved helps with the childs
self-esteem by letting them know they are part of a powerful
team that will help ensure success. counseling credit debt service
Truth #4: Your child has an ideal weight. No two
children are alike, but your child does have a
normal weight range based on their height, gender
and age. They also require a set number of calories each day.
Knowing a childs normal weight range and knowing how many
calories they require is fundamental to getting their weight on
track. card credit payment service
