THE MAZATLAN FISH REPORT - THE ARIES SPORTFISHING FLEET
The fishing action has slowed up a bit, and is probably due to the unstable weather conditions throughout the area. Also, a lack of anglers has hampered the efforts of the fleet to stay on the fish. Overall counts for 12 boat fished days produced 7 sailfish, 14 dorado and 1 yellowfin tuna.
Mazatlan Climate: 71 nights to 90 daytime highs, mostly cloudy and off & on thunder showers
Sea Conditions: Moderate to rough seas, 1 port closure day, temps stable at 86 degrees
Best Lure/Bait: Not reported
Best Fishing Area: Most of the billfish came from southwest of the Marina El Cid, 22-25 miles, but the fish have scattered out in the rougher waters.
THE IXTAPA/ZIHUATANEJO FISH REPORT - THE INDEPENDENT FLEET
"Bad weather and difficult seas conditions held over from last week and light angling pressure was experienced in Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo last week. Only 2 sailfish were reported landed during the week. Captain Adolfo Espinosa, on the "Dos Hermanos I", did manage two inshore charters this past week, landing 3 yellowtail jacks, 16 bonito and 4 needlefish on 1 day and 3 grouper, 1 pampano and 3 bonito on the other day. Captain Jose Vargas reported good light tackle action with bonitos, but none offshore on sailfish. The bad weather caused power outages and lots of downed trees in the I/Z area".
I/Z Climate: Still unstable weather, temps from 70 nights to 95 daytime highs, mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers.
