MaXware Launches Dynamic Identity Store and Virtual Policy Server Offerings

MaXware Launches Dynamic Identity Store and Virtual Policy Server Offerings

MaXware Customers to Benefit from New Functionality and Features across Market-Leading Identity Management Suite

TRONDHEIM, Norway & FREEHOLD, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 20, 2004-- MaXware AS, a leading global provider of modular and scalable enterprise-wide Identity Management solutions, today announced Dynamic Identity Store and MaXware Virtual Policy Server. These components will be incorporated into MaXware's flagship Identity Management offering, the MaXware Identity Center. As a result, MaXware customers can take advantage of new virtualization solutions that will enable them to efficiently and cost-effectively meet their unique identity management needs.
Providing organizations with flexible products and solutions to securely and effectively manage digital identities, user accounts and access rights of employees, business partners and customers, MaXware provides enterprise organizations the flexibility to manage group and rule-based provisioning, while allowing them to scale to a large number of applications. Through the introduction of a Dynamic Identity Store, MaXware customers can now choose between both persistent and virtual storing of identity data, enabling them to consolidate and store information into a central identity store or virtualize their identities with pointers to source attributes residing in external stores. With Virtual Policy Server, MaXware customers can benefit from virtual access to the strongest policies that reside across disparate data sources. MaXware will offer the Virtual Policy Server first as an add-on to Identity Center and later as a stand alone product.

"As organizations are increasingly faced with enterprise-wide identity management issues, MaXware is committed to providing its customers with solutions that can scale to meet their unique business needs," said Tore Wold, CEO of MaXware. "Through these new offerings, we are reinforcing this commitment by being the first vendor to provide organizations with policy virtualization capabilities and the ability to choose between persistent and virtual identity stores."

Key attributes to the Dynamic Identity Store include:

-- Ability to virtualize identities with pointers to source attributes residing in external systems. In addition, these data elements can be defined with a caching option.

-- Ability to link data elements through the powerful MaXware Virtual Directory product which provides for the extraction of data from multiple systems.

-- Entries in the identity Store can be a combination of persistent and virtual data elements and can be defined according to the best fit for the actual solution.

-- General Time-To-Live (TTL) can be defined for all types of attributes and action tasks can be defined for the event of attribute deletion. Historical values for all attributes will be saved for auditing on modify and delete operations.

Key attributes to Virtual Policy Server include:

-- Ability to address identity management and scalability issues through the virtual access of existing policies across disparate data sources

-- Enables administrators to determine authoritative policy sources among the many that reside across the enterprise, while managing several data sources

-- Ability to leverage existing infrastructure by virtualizing and setting precedence to different policies across the enterprise

-- Allows new applications to take advantage of the strongest policies that stem from disparate data sources

-- Enables the reuse of roles and rules, which helps to facilitate the overall identity management process

"Enterprises require provisioning solutions that ease the deployment burden and enable faster return on investment," said Senior Analyst Gerry Gebel of Burton Group. "Virtualization technologies offer a degree of flexibility by aggregating attributes from multiple data sources in real time, instead of requiring synchronization into a central repository."
