A. Not without your approval. Q. What should I know
about investigative consumer reports A.
Investigative consumer reports are detailed reports
that involve interviews with your neighbors or acquaintances
about your lifestyle, character, and reputation. They may be
used in connection with insurance and employment applications.
You ll be notified in writing when a company orders such a
report. The notice will explain your right to request certain
information about the report from the company you applied to.
If your application is rejected, you may get additional
information from the CRA. However, the CRA does not have to
reveal the sources of the information. credit pacific service union

Q. Can anyone get a copy of my report
A. No. Only people with a legitimate business need, as
recognized by the FCRA. For example, a company is allowed to
get your report if you apply for credit, insurance, employment,
or to rent an apartment. Q. Are there other laws I
should know about A. Yes. If your credit application
was denied, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act requires creditors
to specify why -- if you ask. For example, the creditor must
tell you whether you were denied because you have no
credit file with a CRA or because the CRA says you have
delinquent obligations. The ECOA also requires
creditors to consider additional information you might supply
about your credit history. You may want to find out why the
creditor denied your application before you contact the CRA card credit service wireless

Credit Score Questions

Credit Score
FICO is registered trademark for Fair Isaac and Company, or
Fair Isaac for short. Fair Isaac is a company who constructs
credit score tools for lenders who use them to
evaluate the credit of their customers and prospects. FICO
credit scores are among the most well know credit scores, but
there are certainly other competitors of Fair Isaac who also
construct credit scores. Additionally all three of the national
credit bureaus may construct proprietary credit scores of their
own independent of Fair Isaac. credit security service union
FICO credit scores have become well know to consumers over
the last several years because they are often used in mortgage
loan transactions. For example, a lender wishing to extend a
home mortgage loan to a consumer, may order a FICO score on the
consumer to try to predict whether the consumer is going to
default on the mortgage loan at some date in the future. Such a
FICO score ordered through a credit bureau is only based on
elements in your credit report. In the case of FICO
scores, a higher score means you are less risky for the lender.
As a result, a high FICO score may mean you qualify for a
larger loan or perhaps a more favorable interest
rate. credit report service
FICO credit scores have traditionally only been available to
lenders as a tool to evaluate your credit. However, recently
FICO has made their scores available to consumers. Now
consumers can see their own Fico credit score. To order your

It is important to note that your credit score is not part
of your credit report, and in fact, it is separate from your
credit report. Also, credit bureau scores cannot be purchased
without the simultaneous purchase of your credit report. christian counseling credit
Non-FICO credit scores available on the Internet to
consumers are much the same as credit scores from Fair Isaac.
They are all trying to compute a number that measures how risky
you are as a loan prospect based solely on the elements of your
credit report. Credit bureau scores do not use your income, net
worth, race, religion, sex, marital status, or age to compute
your score. Credit bureau scores are only based on what s
in your credit report. credit federal service union

If You re A Victim
of ID Theft or Credit Card Fraud
What Can You
Do
Your First Four
Steps:
1. Contact the fraud
departments of the national credit bureau systems - Equifax,
Experian and Trans Union.
Tell them that you re an identity theft victim. Request
that a fraud alert be placed in your file, as well
as a victim s statement asking that creditors
call you before opening any new accounts or changing your
existing accounts. This can help prevent an identity thief from
opening additional accounts in your name. card credit merchant
Equifax Consumer Fraud Assistance Dept. (800) 525-6285 counseling credit family
2. Order a merged 3-bureau
credit report.
Review your report carefully to make sure no additional
fraudulent accounts have been opened in your name or
unauthorized changes made to your existing accounts. Also,
check the section of your report that lists
inquiries. Where inquiries appear from
the company(ies) that opened the fraudulent account(s), request
that these inquiries be removed from your report.
In a few months, order a new copy of your 3-bureau credit
report to verify your corrections and changes, and to make sure
no new fraudulent activity has occurred. atlanta consumer counseling

3. Contact the creditors for
any accounts that have been tampered with or opened
fraudulently.
Creditors can include credit card companies, phone companies
and other utilities; as well as banks and other lenders. Ask to
speak with someone in the security or fraud department of each
creditor, and follow up with a letter. aspire card credit customer
It s particularly important to notify credit card
companies in writing because that s the consumer protection
procedure the law spells out for resolving errors on credit
card billing statements. Immediately close accounts that have
been tampered with and open new ones with new Personal
Identification Numbers (PINs) and passwords. Avoid using easily
available information like your mother s maiden name, your
birth date, the last four digits of your SSN or your phone
number, or a series of consecutive numbers. card counseling credit service
4. File a report with your
local police or the police in the community where the identity
theft took place.
Get a copy of the police report in case the bank, credit
card company or others need proof of the crime. Even if the
police can t catch the identity thief in your case, having
a copy of the police report can help you when dealing with
creditors. card credit online processing
Other Steps that may be appropriate:
Stolen mail: If an identity thief has stolen your mail to
get new credit cards, bank and credit card statements,
pre-screened credit offers or tax information, or if an
identity thief has falsified change-of-address forms,
that s a crime. Report it to your local postal
inspector. consolidated counseling credit
Bank accounts: If you have reason to believe that an
identity thief has tampered with your bank accounts, checks or
ATM card, close the accounts immediately. When you open new
accounts, insist on password-only access to minimize the chance
that an identity thief can violate the accounts. In addition,
if your checks have been stolen or misused, stop payment. check credit service

request that they notify retailers using their databases not to
accept these checks, or ask your bank to notify the check
