Online Compliance Officer to Enforce the Company's Consumer Protection Policies for its Downloadable Software Applications
OAKLAND, CA, June 27, 2005 -- Ask Jeeves, Inc., a leading provider of information retrieval technologies, brands and Internet advertising services, today announced that Steven Pickering has been appointed to the newly created position of Online Compliance Officer. Pickering, who reports to the General Counsel, will focus primarily on overseeing the Company's Fun Web Products and family of My Search toolbars on a variety of online consumer issues including online privacy, disclosure, and downloadable software practices.

The Online Compliance Officer has a broad mandate, including ensuring that the Company's partners comply with the Company's Downloadable Software Guidelines (http://sp.ask.com/softwareguidelines.html). The Online Compliance Officer will also be responsible for maintaining close contact with industry associations and legislative bodies to ensure that all the products evolve with, and help define industry standards and practices.

Web.com has appointed a Compliance Officer who is responsible for administering this Policy. The Compliance Officer is responsible for receiving, collecting, reviewing, and processing complaints and reports by employees and others on the matters described in this Policy. Persons subject to this Policy are encouraged to discuss issues and concerns of the type covered by this Policy with their supervisors who, in turn, are responsible for informing the Compliance Officer of any concerns raised. If an employee of Web.com prefers not to discuss sensitive matters with his or her own supervisor, the employee may instead discuss such matters with the Compliance Officer or utilize the anonymous complaint procedure described in Section 5 below. The Compliance Officer will refer complaints arising under this Policy as directed by the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.
