Opportunities
Developers using Borland(R) Delphi(TM) will now be able to
create Web services applications that tap
into the power of the eBay and PayPal platforms
SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 26, 2004--
Credit Pacific Service Union At this week's Microsoft Conference, eBay and Borland Software
Corporation (Nasdaq:BORL) announced a new
relationship that will provide
Borland developers with access to tools and resources for
creating Web services applications for
the eBay and PayPal platforms and communities.
Through a joint distribution agreement, Borland will make the eBay
and PayPal Software Development Kits (SDKs) available to Delphi(TM)
developers. The agreement provides Delphi developers with access to
tools and resources that can help them build highly-available .NET
services. These Web services applications will allow developers to
tap into the eBay marketplace as well as PayPal's online payment
services.
eBay wants to ensure that the marketplace offers buyers an array of safe, appropriate, and convenient payment choices for the marketplace. As described in our safe buying guide, eBay strongly encourages sellers to offer payments through PayPal PayPal is not only convenient to use, but it also offers buyers and sellers industry leading protection against fraud, chargebacks and theft of financial data. Merchants with their own merchant credit card processing account, party credit card processor, may also offer their buyers the option of paying directly with a credit card online (including through third party checkout) or by phone.
Credit First Service Union The eBay Developers Program and PayPal Developer Network (PDN)
have already helped thousands of developers create unique,
customized applications on the eBay and PayPal platforms. Earlier
this year, both eBay and PayPal announced new Web services
offerings, broadening the audience for these tools and making them
more appealing to enterprise customers and Web services
developers.
Q PayPal A fast, easy, secure payment method offered by most eBay sellers for purchasing items. When buyers use PayPal, payment is sent from their credit card or bank account without giving any account information directly to the seller. All the buyer need is the seller's email address. With PayPal, credit card or bank account information is kept private and safe on eBay's secure servers. Sign up for PayPal.
Card Credit Mobile Service "This is mutually beneficial for both of our communities," said
George Paolini, vice president, general manager of developer tools
at Borland Software. "The eBay and PayPal Web services-based

Choose the payment methods youll accept from buyers. PayPal is a fast, easy, and secure way to accept credit card or checking account payments on eBay. To keep eBay a safe place for both buyers and sellers, sellers who register after January 17, 2007 are required to offer either PayPal or a merchant account credit card as an accepted payment method.
Card Credit Discover Service "We are pleased to team up with Borland, which has one of the
industry's strongest developer communities for Microsoft Windows
and .NET," said Randy Ching, vice president, eBay Platform
Solutions. "With access to the eBay and PayPal SDKs, Delphi
developers will have new opportunities to innovate on today's
leading Web services platforms."
- PayPal is the preferred payment method for most eBay buyers and sellers. PayPal enables you to send payments quickly and securely online using a credit card or bank account. However, you should first check that the seller offers PayPal as a payment method for their listing.
- When you select PayPal as the payment method, you go to the PayPal site, where you can send your payment. If you do not already have a PayPal account, you can sign up for an account. At PayPal, you can choose how you would like to fund your PayPal payment (for example, using a checking account, credit card, or PayPal balance) and then send the payment. If you use PayPal, the seller may require a credit card billing address registered at PayPal, sometimes called a "confirmed" address.
