Credit First Service Union 1. Pro golfer John Daly won the Buick Invitational last weekend
at Torrey Pines in San Diego by knocking a greenside bunker shot to
inside a foot on the first hole of a three-person playoff. The win
was Daly's first PGA Tour victory since 1995. Daly has struggled
greatly on and off the golf course ever since winning the 1991 PGA
Championship after making it into the field as the final alternate.
Daly has two majors under his belt, but the waistline inside that
belt has dramatically fluctuated over the years as Daly has battled
alcoholism and several tumultuous personal relationships. Daly is
always a fan favorite and it was great to watch him play to his
ability and receive the kind of support from his fellow players and
the gallery that he has so often lacked in his personal life.
A credit freeze allows an individual to place a "freeze" on their credit reports at Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, the three major credit bureaus, so that the bureaus cannot release a credit report to lenders without direct permission from the individual. IDFreeze is the only consumer service that manages credit freezes with all three bureaus at once.

Stanford and St. Joseph's men's basketball teams have been able to
remain undefeated. These two teams should be applauded not only for
their outstanding play, but also in the way they have run their
programs. Stanford and St. Joe's are number one and two in the
nation, respectively. Even if each team loses its first game before
the NCAA tournament rolls around, the teams deserve to be awarded
with a number one seed. Watch out for St. Joe's, with its amazing
backcourt of Jameer Nelson and Delonte West, and the Cardinal, led
by Josh Childress and Chris Hernandez, in the tournament, where
strong experienced guards can carry a team to the Final Four.

Card Credit Discover Service 3. The NBA All-Star game is now the best showcase of talent in
any of the four major sports. While the Major League Baseball
All-Star game is the only one where the participants try their
hardest on defense as well as offense, the NBA All-Star game is
able to showcase the talents of its stars and, when it counts, bear
down and play some competitive basketball as we've seen in the
exciting finishes of the last few All-Star games. The NFL's is
pointless, coming months after some of the players have ended their
seasons, using stupid adjusted rules, and not allowing the
defensive players to play anywhere near the level that warranted
their appearance in the game. The NHL All-Star game is a lot like
the NFL's in that they eliminate all of the checking and just put
goalies in the line of fire with no defensive support. Baseball's
is a competitive game, but the idea that it decides the home field
advantage of the World Series is pretty dumb and the tie-game of
two seasons ago was an All-Star faux pas that is not easily
forgiven.

Card Credit Processing Service 1. The New York Yankees traded for Alex Rodriguez, the
highest-paid player in the Major Leagues. Not only does this
reinforce the fact that the teams in the Majors are not even close
to being on the same financial playing field, but it will force
A-Rod to play third base after posting back-to-back gold glove
seasons at shortstop. Derek Jeter, a.k.a. the most overrated "star"
in the game, will continue to play short while the obviously better
A-Rod will be forced to learn a new position. I wasn't mad at A-Rod
when he signed with the Rangers for over $250 million, and I can't
blame the Rangers for making the trade, but it actually disgusts me
that George Steinbrenner, who will now be paying more in luxury
taxes than some teams will on their entire payrolls, can spend
millions upon millions to fill his hole at third base and surely
won't be stopping there with a hole remaining at second and no
left-handed starting pitchers.
Center Credit Service Union 2. The Big Ten is terrible this year in men's basketball. There
is only one Big Ten team ranked in the Top 25: #10 Wisconsin. The
Big Ten has long been overlooked by the talking heads and
bracketologists come March Madness, and the conference had usually
responded by repeatedly sending teams to the Final Four. But this
year, the critics are right. There will still be four to six teams
in the tournament, but there is only one team in the entire
conference that isn't dramatically underachieving its preseason
goals, the aforementioned Badgers, who are poised to win a
remarkable third regular season conference title in a row. That
puts a lot of weight on the shoulders of a team with a lot of
shoulders already on the sidelines with injuries.
Card Credit Service Wireless 3. Maurice Clarett now has absolutely no chance of returning to
college football after signing with an agent on Monday. The former
Ohio State star running back won a ruling that allows him to enter
next year's NFL draft, bypassing an NFL rule stating that players
could not enter the draft until they were three years removed from
their high school graduating class. The League fears that this will
open the floodgates for inexperienced and underdeveloped kids that
will try to enter the NFL before they are physically, emotionally
and athletically able to adjust to life in the NFL. University of
Pittsburgh standout sophomore wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will
also be eligible for the draft after it was decided that the year
he spent at a military prep school helped him meet the NFL's
criteria. Fitzgerald's decision was met by NFL executives with a
lot more excitement than Clarett's.
