What new: price cuts and increases; the latest tariffs. In this section we l keep you up to date on all the latest price changes in the utilities market:
  • British Gas Click Energy 4 remains the cheapest - This online-only tariff is the cheapest product on the market and is available for new and existing customers. It was exempt from British Gas 15% price hike in January and is now more than 300 cheaper than the company standard tariffs for users with average consumption levels. It replaces the Click Energy 3 products and arrived as a direct response to Scottish and Southern Energy Price Fix 2008 tariff which briefly took the market-leading position away from British Gas but is no longer available. There are further savings to be made if you pay by direct debit and there is a 15 discount if you take out a dual fuel deal. For more on this story read dritish Gas hikes prices but still offers the cheapest deal /a in our Expert View section.
  • Scottish Southern Energy freezes prices - Scottish and Southern Energy (SSE), which supplies energy as SWALEC, Southern Electric, Atlantic and Scottish Hydro Electric has declared that it will not increase its prices until March 30, 2008. This means that currently an SSE customer who is not willing to move to an online-only deal will pay around 175 less a year than a standard British Gas customer. This is a welcome gesture from SSE which ensures customers will not have to pay extra during the months when energy use is traditionally at its peak. Re: drive other cars, insurance policy help

Read your policy. It will probably cover you to drive other cars that don t belong to you but you must have the owner s permission and the owner must have an insurance policy. Most policies include this cover. credit public service union

Not quite sure what the big fuss is RE: driving other cars. It is designed for emergency use only. You will not be able to use the extension as you freely think you are able to. You will also find this benefit gradually being taken off the shelf over the forthcoming year, and next year. Thu, Feb 28 2008, 4:27 PM card credit processing service

Hi Telford, Usually at age 21 you wont have driving other cars. Check your certificate of insurance. It will not tell you if you are covered but will tell you if you are not. It will say something like This policy excludes driving other cars If in doubt - phone your insurer. center credit service union

Hello, All my normal lights have been changed with low energy bulb and the saving have been quite subsential. christian counseling credit

I had managed to find very cheap bulbs on an auction website and through the council. Now, I am struggling to find for nearly a year now some GU10 energy saving bulb. They are sold at 5.99 each for the cheapest found. Obviously those lights are usually set in group ! So, I will basically need 67 bulbs !!!!! which can be quite pricy ! Any help to where to find those cheap GU10 low energy would be much appreciated. credit federal service union

Re: Energy saving bulb - GU10

E sorry I cannot find these bulbs for under 5.99. Perhaps someone else has some ideas credit monitoring service

  • Sun, Nov 12 2006, 1:01 AM Thanks for your message. Ok, It seems, that I can get the GU10 Bulb (Energy Saving) from China. Is it compatible with british standard Or my bulb are going to burst Thx E credit division service

http://www.yourwelcome.co.uk/acatalog/GU10_Low_Energy.html has buk purchases of over 10 units - might be worth a go. Bulk is best. Thu, Jan 18 2007, 3:33 PM card credit online service

This supplier on ebay sells GUI0 energy savers made by Lumineux which are a good make, he did me a great deal on eight bulbs. They are currently selling lots of 5 for total 24.00 inc p p thats 4.60 each, but if you email them for a quote for a bigger order that price will get cheaper the more bulbs you buy at once. And let me re-assure you they are respectable dealers and replace any faulty bulbs straight away. I have not been able to find them cheaper than that. consumer counseling credit inc

If your wanting low energy GU10 bulbs try this link - http://www.yourwelcome.co.uk/acatalog/GU10_Low_Energy.html they sell LED GU10 bulbs and offer a 20% discount for bulk purchases However you look at it, it s going to be costly replacing all your GU10 s. If you are thinking of replacing 12v units (Low Voltage) you might want to think again. Most 12v systems are regarded as Energy Saving. DAVE Fri, Jun 08 2007, 3:28 AM credit federal first service

The light thing to do Thu, Sep 13 2007, 4:24 PM consumer credit service

Good Afternoon Reference your requirment there are a number of low energy gu10 on the market at the moment, I wont hide the fact that we are a Lighting retailer www.energybulbs.co.uk but it does allow us to give some accurate information reference some of the suggestions you recieved. There is absoloutley no point incomprimising on the quality of low energy GU10. Of all energy saving bulbs these are the type that vary most in performance. One respondent quoted Your Welcome as a supplier and I will agree with them completley great supplier really good service. But LED GU10 bulbs are no where near good enough to use as main room lighting yet. Even the most expensive offer a very limited light output. We sell them as cheap as anyone in the market but unless you are looking for an accent light then choose CFL GU10 s other wise you will be out of pocket and dissapointed. On to cheap low energy GU10, one person referenced the Lum ineux brand as a cheap option. We know from experience having replaced over 350 of there products from 1000 bought that they are of a very poor quality this issue was even admitted by them hence the cheaper price on the products. Alot of the cheaper GU10 products and most of the stuff found on Ebay are all from the same factory. There light performace is very poor in terms of light given out and the colour compared to halogens, give off a very blue light. The claimed 8000 Hour life tends to be very hopeful You will also notice that none of them are Energy Trust Recommended as they just dont make the grade. There are a couple of very good mid range Far Eastern GU10 bulbs from the likes of Pro lite and Auroraa but our advice is this. There are two reasons for switching to low energy GU10 s reducing your lighting bill and reducing your Carbon footprint so pick the most enviromentally friendly and highest performing GU10 s and these are by a longway the Megaman low energy GU10 products www.energybulbs.co.uk whether you buy from us or another supplier you will not be disappointed they are not the cheapest but the are Energy Saving Class A rated, last for 15, 000 hours and give the most natural light available. As an example the 67 GU10 bulbs you are looking at swapping will save you over the life of the lamp 4020 ! That is why it is false economy to try and cut corners you might save a few pounds today but you will miss out on big savings in the future. center credit family service

I ordered from energybulbs.co.uk... but nothing arrived from them, and now they are igonoring my attempts to contact them, both my emails aswell as my posting though their webform, results in nothing whatsoever. credit reporting service

The cheapest place for the Megaman 11w GU10 is www.ryness.co.uk: See direct link below (it s not easy to find those Megamans on the web site!). You can get a 10 pack for 75, including VAT and free post+packaging... an excellent deal - you ll pay at least a tenner a bulb on all other web sites. credit repair report service

http://www.ryness.co.uk/ProductDetails.aspx categoryID=823 productID=5268 category4ID=998 The Megaman 11w GU10s are an able replacement for 50W Halogens. But I would recommend trying out one or two first before spending your life savings on a bulk purchase. The light is slightly whiter than a halogen, and not quite as strong - you do not get the spotlight effect the same, with more of a flood fill. Having said that, we quite like the effect, and are quickly getting used to it (the halogens seem very yellow in comparison!). credit legal repair service

Sat, Feb 23 2008, 2:35 PM I agree... another word of caution.. the Megaman dimmerable are not compatible with the common dimmers in Denmark, but when i made them aware of the issue, they immedeately ordered a setup through their danish agent, and they are going to investigate what can be done.. That is In my opinion some of the best customer service I ever experienced cic credit monitoring service

Why carry Credit Cards when you can use Obopay Credit cards allow people to purchase items immediately, and pay for them later. Instead of having money removed directly from a bank account, as is the case with debit cards, a credit card purchase is paid for by the credit card issuer and the credit card holder pays back the issuer in full at the end of the month, or with interest added minimal monthly payments. Also, responsible use of credit cards helps in building a good credit history, which aids in attaining loans, insurance, and other important services from financial institutions.
