Info Needed on Aida Cruiseline card credit mobile service

Does anybody know anything about Aida cruise line They have a website aida.de, but it s in German. I checked many travel agencies and none of them offers travel with Aida. Are there any European travel agencies Do they speak English on their ships I have so many questions - please help. card credit discover service

Write a Message manzlinda (# 1 of 5) 08:43am Sep 27, 2007 EST I don t know anything about them, but did see one of their ships in a port of call when we were on a Mediterran cruise in September. Can t remember what port it was though. Looked like a fairly old ship, not very big compared to the NCL ship.
alcornteach (# 2 of 5) 01:58pm Sep 27, 2007 EST You can use Google to translate the page concerning Aida Cruiseline. BurBunny (# 3 of 5) 02:45pm Sep 27, 2007 EST Aida is a line owned by Carnival Corporation which is aimed at the German market. It s not marketed at all toward North Americans, and there are few English speakers onboard. It can be sold by US agencies, but you need to understand this is a different animal than the Carnival/RCCL/Princess lines you may be used to. Different food, style, onboard amenities. Much more casual.

Travel Talk - Safe to Park in Bayonne

Safe to Park in Bayonne card credit service wireless

We are a little over two weeks from our RCL cruise to Canada and New England, and still haven t figured out how we are getting to/from the Bayonne port. We could take a taxi to/from Newark airport (we re NJ locals and could take the train easily to the airport), but I ve heard that traffic can be a nightmare (tick tick tick goes the meter) and that taxis aren t exactly plentiful once it s time to go home. credit security service union

There s parking there, but I m a little leary given that that part of our lovely state is not exactly a low crime area. Has anyone heard anything about theft or vandalism problems there I plan to call the Bayonne PD to get their two cents but figured I d ask here, too, in case they sugarcoat it. Many thanks!! credit report service

Jack Sigano (# 1 of 1) 07:54am Sep 27, 2007 EST

Shamroxx, I am also a NJ native and sailed on the Explorer just last month. I am happy to tell you that the port in Bayonne is in a very isolated area. Even when you arrive at the turnoff for the terminal it is easily 2 miles before you reach the actual terminal. Also there are guards posted at the entrance and you cannot get past them except on sailing day. We did a dry run the day before the cruise. That s how we found out we could not get near the terminal until the next day. Of course the best option would be to have someone drop you off and then pick you up upon returning. Should you have that option, contact me for more information to make the pickup easier. By the way, this was our 26th cruise and we loved the ship. Go and enjoy. River Cruise Sickness on Rhine credit federal service union

On another river cruise board it has been reported that many Rhine River cruises for the past few months have had a viral infection spread quickly through the passengers. In some cases the Captain quarantined passengers. Apparently this was ongoing for a few months and on many ships - not an isolated incident! My wife I began our cruise on 8/22 from Amsterdam and about half way through people started coming down sick. It appeared to be an upper respiratory virus that gradually spread to my wife and then to me. Our Doctor referred myself and my wife to the ER where I was diagnosed with pneumonia and wife had bronchitis. We should have gone to the doctor sooner and we actually discussed this option with our Program Director but opted out when the PD informed us that we could be at the local hospital for about 5 hours. credit monitoring service

Posters suggested already sick passengers spread the virus after they arrived but I noticed on our boat that the ships crew was short handed - kitchen, wait staff and housekeeping - it appears that this shortage might have been sick crew members. All you need is one sick cook and the virus spreads quickly. credit division service

But to now hear that a virus had been spreading on many cruises for a few months is absolutely astounding. Are not there any safeguards in place to protect the passengers Why not quarantine the boat until it is thoroughly cleaned Why not notify the future passengers There needs to be some regulation for this kind of event or the River cruise industry might suffer catastrophic losses from people canceling or just not booking them. This cruise industry needs to police itself and correct this ASAP! Many elderly people take these cruises and to intentionally expose them to a known virus that has been circulating for months is problematic for the industry and the passengers. card credit online service

I am very upset that nothing was done proactively to protect the future passengers who boarded on an already infected boat. Am I alone in thinking the River Cruise industry needs to do more to protect us passengers consumer counseling credit inc

Write a Message judyt (# 1 of 12) 03:31am Oct 6, 2007 EST This is the first I ve heard of this virus on the River Cruise ships. Which line I ve always taken Uniworld and they always have a very large staff and everything always appears to be extremely clean. Why has none of this leaked into the press On the larger ships we always hear about it. People do tend to get sick while traveling, just due to jet lag, lack of sleep, different food, etc. If this is truly going it is important to know the cruise lines involved.
Leiter5776 (# 2 of 12) 06:47pm Oct 9, 2007 EST judyt, From other posters it appears to be a general outbreak on ALL cruise lines. Some lines have started adding MDs. What bothers me the most is that it has been going on for months!!!! No ship/trip cancellations for cleansing or decontamination! Where is the press Well, if passengers don t follow up with complaints then nothing is done. The cruise industry is certainly not going to initiate this.

Kind of frightening that Cruise lines are putting profits ahead of their passengers safety and health. card credit fleet service

Jeri Ann (# 3 of 12) 07:36pm Oct 11, 2007 EST I am getting ready to book a cruise for my friend and I for a Rhine River cruise. This is upsetting news - can you please be more specific about the lines involved. Is it just River Cruises or all cruises in that area of the world. Thanks for a response - I m sure there are many others who desperately want to do this cruise, but not have health problems. Thanks for making the effort to warn us.
adiaz (# 4 of 12) 09:52pm Oct 11, 2007 EST I am booked on a Vantage Cruise on the Rhine in December. Now I am worried! How has Vantage Tours fared in this dilema I would appreciate any information available. travelerann (# 5 of 12) 11:11pm Oct 11, 2007 EST We just came off a 16 day Grand Circle Travel Great Rivers of Europe cruise on the Rhine, Rhine-Main and Danube 9/27/07. No one was sick from a virus of which I am aware. They were very careful to spray your hands with a sanitizer when you went in the dining room and even had a machine that would spray your hands when you put them under the spray. Everybody thought this was a grand idea. Nobody knew anything about a virus going around and nothing was ever said to that affect. We just all had a wonderful time and didn t think of getting sick. Go and don t worry about being sick but if your ship doesn t use a hand sanitizer then do it yourself. I carry a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my pocket and use it frequently. Also, wash your hands frequently.
oparks (# 6 of 12) 12:19am Oct 12, 2007 EST I am going with a group in November on the Rhine, Mosel and Main on an Amadeus boat. Have you heard if they have had the virus Thanks BobFalconer@cox.net (# 7 of 12) 12:35am Oct 12, 2007 EST Six of us were on Viking Rhine River 12 nite cruise and almost half of the passengers were sick for about 2-3 days with flu like symtoms! No fun! This was 2006.
pat c (# 8 of 12) 04:31pm Oct 12, 2007 EST we just came back from a russian river cruise and many passengers developed bad coughs and sore throats inspite of using hand sanitizers . It was very noticable during the bus trips. Several saw the doctor on board the ship and some were seen in the er during the post trip. scw58 (# 9 of 12)
01:35pm Oct 13, 2007 EST

we were on the Grand Circle Great Rivers of Europe in August and quite a number of passengers were sick with coughs and sore throats, etc. We started feeling like that also toward the end of the trip. When I got back home, I went to the doctor the next day and was quite sick for about three weeks. I didn t realize that this was happening on a number of cruise lines. Glad to know the facts. card consolidation credit

cruz2far (# 10 of 12) 04:46pm Oct 28, 2007 EST Rivercruise sickness on Rhine...We experienced passengers getting stomach viruses last summer (2006)(2007). The GCT ships now have spraying machines before you go into the diningroom; however, some people saw my husband and me use it and walked by without using it. All travelers must take precautions otherwise we will continue to experience these illnesses. On one of our rivercruises, the Restaurant Manager stood by the diningroom door each meal and you had to have your hands sprayed! This worked and the illness on board came to a halt. This happens on the large cruise ships and people are not using the individual packets to clean their hands at times. We must all cooperate! kcmanchester (# 11 of 12) 07:28pm Oct 31, 2007 EST I and my wife, brother and sister-in-law just returned from a Viking River Cruise in France. I noted that as the cruise progressed more and more passengers were becoming ill with some type cold. My wife became ill, then I became ill and by the end of the cruise my brother and his wife were both ill. Viking does not provide any kind of liquid disinfectant stations at key points around the ship. I really think this is something that Viking should consider.

Boop (# 12 of 12) 12:07am Nov 3, 2007 EST These viruses that everyone is talking about are very common in enclosed spaces with lots of people-ie-schools, hospitals, cruise ships. It is brought on board by a passenger and spread to each other very quickly by hand to mouth activities. If you are vigilant about washing your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before eating, staying away from candy bowls, cookie platters etc. where someone else may touch multiple cookies or candies before taking one, you should be fine. I also bring a small spray bottle of lysol or wipes to quickly wipe down the key areas I may touch, I start this on the airplane tray table. Washing your hands frequently is the best defense!
Travel Talk - Two 20 year olds going on an Alaskan Cruise... Travel Talk - It now cheaper to see Europe on a cruise ship than by land travel! thesavvyoldlady - 10:44am Oct 1, 2007 EST

Recently I read an article in the newspaper regarding the rise of the Euro and the fall of the US Dollar. In other words, Americans are getting less bang for their buck once they convert their dollars into euros. However, I realized that on most major cruise lines with a European itinerary the currency used on board is the US Dollar. Therefore, hotel, food and excursions are all paid in US dollars on a cruise ship. Although I agree with many who say that you only get a sampling (due to time restrictions in ports of call) of European cities when cruising ...the end result for those people on a fixed budget is a considerable savings by taking a European cruise. credit federal first service

tcbow (# 1 of 1) 03:42pm Oct 2, 2007 EST there is a HUGE DIFFERENCE between a land holiday and a cruise tour holiday. i totally agree that if one takes land tours that make one day stops at various cities than there is very little difference between that an a cruise tour holiday. however, if one is fortunate enough to stay at various locals for an extended period of time, the stay is completely different. there is just no comparison.

julieannacts (# 5 of 5) 11:12am Oct 29, 2007 EST We snorkled off St. Thomas close to St. Johns highly enjoyed the sea turtles, small baracuda, other fish, urchins we saw. Could ve stayed much longer. We highly disliked St. Maarten. Their #1 source of income is tourism. We couldn t sit on the beach 10 minutes without someone trying to sell us something. Walking the main shopping streets, shop owners would physically grab you try to pull you into their shops. If we take a cruise that stops there again, we ll stay on the ship for that day.

WE JUST TOOK A CRUISE ON A CELEBRITY SHIP TO THE MEDITERRANEAN AND WERE NOT PLEASED WITH THEIR SERVICE - THE FOOD WAS JUST OK, NOTHING TO RAVE ABOUT. IN FACT, THERE WERE PEOPLE QUARANTINED IN THEIR CABINS DUE TO SOME SORT OF STOMACH VIRUS OUTBREAK - PEOPLE WERE GETTING SICK. WE INITIALLY BECAME ILL AT THE BEGINNING OF THE TRIP AFTER VISITING ONE OF THE NIGHTCLUBS. MY HUSBAND WAS ALSO ILL TOWARDS THE END OF THE TRIP. WE HAD NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS PREVIOUSLY ON ANY OF OUR CRUISES UNTIL WE TOOK CELEBRITY. THE ITINERARY (THE MEDITERRANEAN) WAS WONDERFUL BUT THE TOTAL EXPERIENCE ON THE SHIP LEFT MUCH TO BE DESIRED.
