Inspections also take place after employee complaints or they can be based on referrals from other agencies. Inspections also may be called if a company has more accidents than what is considered normal for companies of its type, Kulick said.
Consumer Counseling Credit Inc OSHA can only shut down a facility if there is an "eminent danger" to worker safety. If such a danger exists, OSHA must first notify the employer and direct it to fix the problem, Kulick said. If the employer refuses to eliminate the danger, OSHA can ask an administrative law judge for a temporary restraining order to close the facility until the problem is fixed, Kulick said.

Credit Service Tax In a July interview, Page acknowledged a criminal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and said company officials were cooperating. He described McWane as "a changed company" in terms of workplace safety and environmental issues.
Aeon Credit Service McWane spokesman Larry Sneed said the indictment does not represent current workplace conditions. Since 1997, McWane has spent $7 million on safety and environmental improvements at the plant.
Credit One Service Union Sneed said accident rates at the plant so far in 2003 are 12 percent lower than the previous year and 45 percent lower since 1995.

Counseling Credit Debt Service Lisa Jackson, assistant commissioner of enforcement at the DEP, said the state was successful in reaching a $1.4 million settlement with Atlantic States over water pollution violations. Atlantic States installed a storm basin to catch rainwater runoff before it left its site. The company also agreed to switch from solvent-based to water-based paint for its pipes to reduce water pollution, Jackson said.
