Card Credit Processing Service Pontasch, who lives off campus, was never able to get reception
in her house near campus and had to stand in her yard in one place
in order to get decent reception.
Center Credit Service Union "Oh, so that is why my phone has been working," Pontasch said.
"I couldn't talk [on the phone] at all in my house, so I was kinda
concerned about winter and the cold weather. Now my phone has been
working great."
Card Credit Service Wireless Ben Duven ('07) also uses U.S. Cellular. He has noticed a
drastic increase in his cell phone reception since the tower was
put up.
Credit Security Service Union "Until a couple of weeks ago, it was frustrating," Duven said.
"Now I have noticed the reception is way better in Olin, the
library and all over campus."
Credit Report Service Reed Fitton ('08), U.S. Cellular customer, has also noticed that
his cell phone reception has improved.

reception than before. I can get three bars [of service] in the
bottom of the library now," Fitton said.
Christian Counseling Credit The Decorah Radioshack had been pushing U.S. Cellular to get the
new tower in Decorah to help Luther students.
Credit Federal Service Union Ryan Christensen, Radioshack manager who handles Luther's cell
phone accounts, commented that they have increased
sales in the last two weeks from
the tower being put up. Customers have noticed a big difference
in reception from the new tower.
Credit Monitoring Service "We have been very adamant about it [getting the tower up],"
said Christensen, "and, recently, we've been hearing good things
about the reception from customers."
Credit Division Service "We even called frustrated U.S. Cellular Luther customers and
told them about the change because they were ready to switch to
another carrier company," Christensen said.
Card Credit Online Service Aaron Stahl, another Radioshack employee, commented that
customers were complaining about the cell phone reception before
the tower was put up, and now the
business has heard positive
feedback from cell users.
Consumer Counseling Credit Inc Alissa Darrow ('06), U.S. Cellular user, commented that she was
thinking of switching cell phone companies because of the awful
reception in the area.
Card Credit Fleet Service "I got cut off during a
job interview over the phone
once. That was really bad," Darrow said. "I have noticed a huge
difference [in reception] all over campus now."
Card Consolidation Credit Primarily affected by the new tower are U.S. Cellular customers.
The tower was put up mainly for U.S. Cellular customers. However,
cell phone users that use different carriers may also have noticed
better reception, depending if the carriers have licensing
agreements with U.S. Cellular. U.S. Cellular Company was not aware
of the carriers that had licensing agreements with them.
Credit Free Online Report Chris Valar ('08), Verizon Wireless user, said, "I haven't
noticed a difference [in reception]. My reception has always been
decent."
Credit Federal First Service Matt Orth ('09) who also uses Verizon, has also not noticed a
difference in reception since the new tower was put up.
Consumer Credit Service Sarah Melin ('07), T-Mobile user, commented that she started
getting really bad reception about two weeks ago.
Center Credit Family Service "Usually when I stand outside, I have full reception, but for
about a week and a half, I wasn't getting any signal no matter
where I went," Melin said. "Now my reception is back to normal,
though."
Credit Reporting Service Hassan Asghar ('06), T-Mobile user, said, "The other night when
I was in Dieseth, I had great reception and normally I do not."
Cca Credit Division Service U.S. Cellular retail wireless consultant Tracy Smith said that
Luther College has always been a hard area to get reception.
Credit Free Report Service "Because the college's capacity of customers is so large, it was
a good decision in order to keep customers satisfied," Smith
said.
Card Credit Customer Discover Greg O'Brien, U.S. Cellular employee, said, "Our focus is to get
better coverage. In order to provide better service to the Luther
cell site, a tower was needed because the only other cell site is
south of town."
