Imprivata Adds Self-Service Password Management and Biometric Identification to OneSign

Increased Security and Convenience for the Market's Only ESSO Appliance

LEXINGTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 2004--Imprivata, the ESSO appliance company, has begun shipping OneSign 2.5 featuring self-service password management and advanced finger-biometric capabilities for simple and secure enterprise single sign-on.
Single sign-on eliminates the chaos of multiple passwords and allows security-conscious network administrators to create a single, strong password for each user. But even one password, especially one that is complex, can be forgotten, delaying access to applications and draining support resources.

"Self-service password management is an intelligent way to automate user support and to move it off the plate of over-stretched IT departments," says Pete Lindstrom, research director for Spire Security. "Imprivata has engineered a great deal of automation into the entire single sign-on process, and giving users the ability to reset their own forgotten passwords advances that model even further."

OneSign 2.5 offers complete self-service password management, providing even greater levels of convenience to users and reducing the strain on IT departments of remotely resetting domain network passwords for users who have forgotten them. Users simply answer a series of personal questions that they've specified in advance and immediately receive a new secure password. The entire process is controlled by policy on the OneSign appliance communicating with an intelligent software agent running on the user's computer.

Wishing to forgo passwords completely, an increasing number of organizations are turning finger biometrics and other digital authentication technologies.

OneSign 2.5 enables the most advanced form of finger biometric identification, eliminating the need to enter or select a user name prior to scanning. Due to its processing speed, OneSign instantly compares a finger scan to a central store of enrolled finger templates, providing immediate access to authorized users.

Additionally, OneSign 2.5 is equipped with enhanced reporting capabilities, providing IT groups and business managers with extremely detailed reports on user access to applications.

"Enterprise SSO is becoming a strategic business tool in the age of financial accountability and corporate compliance," says Patrick Morley, president and CEO of Imprivata. "We believe the updated version of our OneSign appliance makes the most robust ESSO solution on the market even easier and more useful for mainstream organizations."

Imprivata is the only ESSO solution on the market offered as a network appliance which great simplifies installation and dramatically reduces IT overhead. In addition to the new modules for biometrics and self-service password management, OneSign standard features include its unique Application Profile Generator(TM), shared workstation capability, and automatic agent updating. OneSign ships in redundant pairs ensuring ongoing fail-safe operation.
