McGreevey's Open Space Week, Kuperus also praised the township's successful bid for a state planning and incentive grant designed to fund preservation of smaller farms adjacent to larger, already preserved tracts.

Center Credit Service Union In order to be eligible for the grant award, townships had to appoint an agricultural advisory committee, have a dedicated funding source to pay for farmland preservation and amend their master plans to include a farmland preservation element.

Card Credit Service Wireless Neil Robson, chairman of the township agriculture advisory board, and committee members Anne Edwards and Kathy Laird were on hand yesterday. Robson credited fellow volunteer committee members with securing the award. "It's a great opportunity for the township to continue the fine work that's been done not only here, but in all of Burlington County," he said. "I was fortunate to have great people working with me, who got the job done."

Credit Security Service Union Both Kuperus and Kocubinski urged voters to consider funding questions for open space set for the general election ballot in November. Statewide public question No. 1 will put $150 million more in funding for open space and farmland in the Highlands as well as funding for recreation lands.

Credit Report Service Kocubinski said a question on the ballot for township residents would increase the current dedicated open space tax from 2 cents to 4 cents for every $100 of property assessments for the next five years.

Blogspot Com Christian Funding from the increase would be used exclusively to pay the township's 17 percent share of the smaller easement buys and would cost the average homeowner about $35 a year, Kocubinski said. Township officials said the approach would save money in the long run by allowing the township to use a pay-as-you-go method and save the costs of going out to bond for the money.
