Applying technology originally developed in the 1960s for military purposes, the forward-looking infrared technology found in NightSight allows the user to "see" in the dark by creating images based on heat energy rather than reflected visible light. The infrared imaging system detects slight temperature differences between objects and people in its field of view and uses this information to create real-time "thermal landscapes" of the area on display.
