Credit Pacific Service Union Heavy logging along the rugged Northern California coast by the Pacific Lumber Co., which owns some of the last large stands of ancient redwood trees in private hands, has degraded water quality and aggravated flooding in five rivers and streams, according to a new state report.

In February 2003, the Federal Reserve Board (Fed) released a study concluding that changes were needed to improve the accuracy and completeness of the consumer data it contains.¹⁵⁷ What was noteworthy about this study was that the Fed did not set out to examine credit report accuracy. Instead, it originally sought to determine whether examining credit bureau data on consumers would increase the Fed's understanding of the nation's economic health. The Fed study was based upon a random sample of nearly 250, 000 ( identified) consumer credit histories provided by an unnamed credit bureau.

Credit First Service Union The study done for the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board recommends that Pacific Lumber, based in Scotia, reduce timber cutting on the 220,000 acres of land it owns in Humboldt County. Otherwise, the report says, conditions will probably not improve.

Gray Davis, who received $60,000 in donations from Pacific Lumber in the 2001-02 campaign, according to state election records.

Credit Free Online Report Pacific Lumber officials say the agreement puts more than half their land off limits to harvest and will help improve the area's environment in coming decades.
